DID YOU KNOW THAT ABUSE HAS SEVERAL IMPORTANT VARIANTS?
At our office, we assist many victims of domestic abuse who are eligible to apply for permanent residence in the U.S. if they meet certain requirements.
Most of the time we understand or classify abuse as a simply physical action, whether in the form of sexual abuse or direct aggression against our person, but there are various variants regarding the subject of “abuse” that we overlook or are not named as much as they should be.
Let us remember that the meaning of abuse is about the action and effect of abusing, as the Royal Spanish Academy says, it is the excessive, unfair or improper use of something or someone for one's own or another's benefit.
Below, we share some of the various types of abuse that may be recognized:
· PHYSICAL ABUSE: This is where all physical aggression and violence, mistreatment at a corporal level between two or more people comes into context, there is no distinction of gender, age or condition.
· SEXUAL ABUSE: We are talking about a crime in question where acts are carried out that violate a person's sexual freedom, from verbal violence, intimidation to something more serious like rape.
· EMOTIONAL ABUSE: In these cases, the abuse is psychological, where the word can come in the form of manipulation and emotional control.
· ABUSE OF AUTHORITY: In this case, superiority is put forward as a means of abuse. The level of trust or confidentiality over a person can be used and that same thing can be used.
· ABUSE IN FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS: Even in the family environment there are various areas where abuse is exercised, such as gender violence, physical or psychological violence, machismo, and domestic violence, among others, it can be from parents to children, children to parents, siblings, descendants or any person in a vulnerable state who lives with the perpetrator of the abuse.
· CHILD ABUSE: Applies in situations where the abuse is directed toward a minor, caused by negligence, abandonment or child sexual abuse.
· WORK ABUSE: Inflicted in the work environment, along with abuse of power and labor discrimination.
· ECONOMIC ABUSE: It is exercised on a person who is economically dependent on another.
· ABUSE OF TRUST: This is closely linked to the abuse of authority, which consists of the ease of deceiving and harming someone who has given credit, that is, it can be motivated by inexperience or affection towards that person.
· ABUSE OF RIGHTS: This topic refers to the exercise of a right in a way contrary to its purpose.
Knowing the various abuses that we can find in our environment, the most important thing is to know how we can detect and prevent them. Abuse is general, in nature, it does not distinguish age, race, or time and its prevention is of utmost importance to eradicate it as best as possible. An extremely relevant factor once the type of abuse has been detected is the age of the victim and their situation, in this way the measures to be executed are appropriate to the case in question and the tools are more effective at the time of acting against the abuse.
At Mundo Legal we have the necessary experience to be able to help in cases of abuse in various forms and to be able to properly exercise the law to eradicate the situation.
